# Edits turned on separately

> The changes no preset or level ever switches on for you, and why.

Some changes are marked **Turned on separately** in **Settings → MCP Server**. They are off for every institute until an admin switches each one on by hand.

## What never turns them on

None of these switch on an opt-in edit:

* setting the area to **Edit**;
* the **Turn everything on** shortcut;
* switching the server on for the first time.

The **View only** shortcut does turn them **off**, along with every other change.

## The list

| Area | Change | Badge | Why it is separate |
| - | - | - | - |
| Website | Set up folders, course tags and product pages | Adds to live data | Tags on live courses and courses added to an active store page show on your site at once. |
| Website | Publish and roll back | Changes live | Your live website changes the moment the AI app publishes. |
| Courses | Structure and depth | Changes live | Learners see the new course structure at once. |
| Learners | Enrol into courses | Changes live | Learners get access and may receive emails. |
| Learners | Edit learner details | Changes live | A learner's name, phone, password, address, parents or custom fields change at once. |
| CRM: Leads | Every change (activity, edits, assignments, adding leads) | Adds to live data or Changes live | Your team works from this data every day, and status changes can start automations. |
| CRM: Calls | Calls, AI calls, AI calling campaigns | Calls or messages leads | A real person's phone rings. Calls may use credits. |
| CRM: Meetings | Book a meeting, record the outcome | Calls or messages leads | The lead receives an invite. |
| CRM: Messages | Send a WhatsApp template | Calls or messages leads | A real person receives a message. |

All of these show a preview and wait for your "yes" in the chat before anything changes, except simple CRM additions such as a note on a lead, which apply straight away. See [Risk levels](/mcp-server/settings/risk-levels) for what people notice.

## Turn one on

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the area">
    In **What AI apps can do**, click the area's name to open its row.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Switch on the change">
    Find the change with the **Turned on separately** badge and switch it on. The area's View turns on with it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save settings**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Turn opt-in edits on for a role, not for everyone. Under **Per-role access (advanced)**, customize **Admin** and switch the edit on there. Other roles keep the main settings. See [Who can connect](/mcp-server/settings/roles#give-some-roles-more-access).
</Tip>

## Before you turn one on

* Try it yourself first, on a test course, a test learner or a test lead.
* Ask the AI app to show you the preview, and read it before you say yes.
* Tell your team that a "yes" in the chat makes a real change.
