Most common, in plain words
  • tool_not_permitted: that area or edit is off for your role. An admin must turn it on in Settings → MCP Server.
  • confirm_token_expired: the preview is too old. Ask for a new preview.
  • out_of_scope: not your lead. It is outside the leads your admin portal shows you.
  • rate_limited: you reached an hourly limit for calls or messages. Wait, then try again.
  • “session expired”: reconnect your AI app and approve again.
When a tool can’t do what was asked, it doesn’t crash the chat. It returns an error the AI app can read, in this shape:
  • error is a short, stable code.
  • message says what happened and, usually, what the AI app should do next. Some errors carry extra fields, such as which arguments are missing or how long to wait.
Your AI app should explain the error to you in plain words. If it doesn’t, ask: “What exactly did the tool say?”
Codes marked CRM come from the CRM tools. You only see them when your institute uses the CRM areas.

Access and connection

These happen before a tool runs. When access is refused, the AI app sees no tools at all, and a tool call returns a plain message instead of a code.

Previews and confirmations

See Confirmations for how these work.

Finding the right record

The record is in the wrong state

Bad requests

Mainly for the AI app and technical readers. These usually mean the AI app made a mistake. It should fix the request and try again on its own.

Something failed on our side

Mainly for technical readers.
If an error keeps coming back, note the time, the tool name and the code, and send them to your admin or support. Every tool call is recorded with its result, so the time and code are enough to find it. See Audit log.
